Blakehurst has added an exciting — and much anticipated — new dining option for its residents. As part of its ambitious $16 million renovation, Towson, Md.’s premier senior living community has created The Ridge Pub, an inviting, casual space offering elevated pub fare, handcrafted drinks, and a dining experience that fits residents’ active lifestyles perfectly.
“The Ridge Pub will celebrate its opening in late March,” says Steve Newcombe, Blakehurst’s Food & Beverage Director. “We’ve already gotten very positive feedback on the Chesapeake Dining Room’s refresh, with its updated design, décor, and menu — and we can’t wait to introduce everything The Ridge Pub has to offer to residents.”
The pub itself is stunning, with a dramatic coffered ceiling, a marble-top bar, and a style that mixes mid-century modern, traditional cool tones, and today’s clean and functional lines and sensibility.
Dining Flexibility for Vibrant Seniors
One of the key benefits of The Ridge Pub is its all-day accessibility. Unlike Blakehurst’s popular Terrace Room eatery (which has also been renovated) and the more formal Chesapeake Dining Room, The Ridge Pub will remain open continuously from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. This means that residents seeking a late-afternoon bite will always have a convenient and welcoming place to dine.
The Ridge Pub’s remarkable flexibility extends to its seating options, too. Diners can choose a comfortable stool at the bar, a table for two for intimate tête à têtes, or a larger family-style table for impromptu friendly gatherings or a quick bite with the grandkids.
“The thing we’re most excited about is having a space that’s available to residents all day long,” says Newcombe. “A lot of residents are very busy, and sometimes they miss traditional mealtimes because of appointments or other engagements. Now, they’ll have a place where they can grab a bite or sit down and enjoy a full meal whenever they want. We are a resident-driven community, and they wanted to be able to come in and get something quick, comforting, and delicious.”
A Menu Crafted for Comfort and Quality
“We sought input from the residents every step of the way in the creation of the pub, from choosing the layout and the décor, to building a perfect menu,” explains Newcombe.
Though more relaxed in atmosphere, The Ridge Pub continues Blakehurst’s commitment to fresh, made-from-scratch meals. Executive Chef Sung Pak and his team source ingredients daily and prepare each dish with the same care and expertise that have made Blakehurst’s dining options stand out.
“We expect the seafood dishes to be the most popular,” Newcombe shares. “Fresh fried oysters, bang bang shrimp, and classic fish and chips are sure to be big hits.”
In addition to these crowd favorites, the menu also features handcrafted burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, and fresh entrée salads with protein options including chicken, salmon, and vegetarian sausage.

The Ridge Pub joins the recently refreshed Chesapeake dining room and the beloved Terrace Bistro to offer residents three distinct dining experiences.
